Hi, I am Michael Lanzer, a film and television creator who produces and creates content for TV series, web series and short film, with a particular interest in comedy. I am a multimedia all rounder, with proficient skills as a writer, producer, editor and performer, and graduated from Swinburne University of Technology with a Bachelor of Film and Television.

My work has recently been featured in shows including ’The Weekly with Charlie Pickering’ and ‘Safe Home’, and campaigns for Mars Bar, Midas, Baker’s Delight, Coinspot and Reece Bathrooms.

Over the years I have continually worked as a writer for television comedy (C31), performed stand-up, been a master of ceremonies, hosted and produced community radio programs and trained in comedy writing and improvisation. I have hosted and presented television on Channel 31 and radio on the Student Youth Network (SYN), and have won several awards from my work at SYN, including one for 'Best Comedy Team' for a radio show that I co-hosted.

I have a special interest in creating and developing original ideas. For Channel 31, I created, hosted, co-wrote and produced the television series 'Late Night Tonight' (2010), a 6-part parody talk show, which was filmed in front of a live studio audience.

I also have experience in many production roles, including directing and producing. For Channel 31 I directed ‘Postcodes’, a parody travel show that was nominated for a community television award for best comedy program. I also have experience working in a live studio environment, working as the floor manager on several series of RMITV’s ‘Studio A' (Hosted by Dave Thornton and Tommy Little).

In 2019 I produced ‘Hotelevision’, a four-part comedy web series that I wrote and starred in as a hotel manager who creates his own TV show in the hotel lobby.

My new sketch comedy series ‘Michael News Now’ will premiere at The Melbourne Fringe Festival in 2023.

I also have the passion and skills for puppetry, both building and performing, and regularly do this work through my company The Puppet Creation Lab. I have a range of experience as a puppeteer and puppet builder, and have trained in Los Angeles and also with former Sesame Street Jim Henson-trained puppeteers.
